Why did you choose Graphic & Interactive Communication as a major? I didn’t really choose it. I’ve always been into designing and creating art just for fun, before I

knew it was called design. It was the natural, obvious path for me.
What inspires you? I’m really attracted to the art of icons. Just the idea of taking this complex thought or image and scaling it down into something as small as a postage stamp. That’s exciting.
What is the faculty like? The faculty is diverse. We have really experimental teachers, we have teachers who like to put you in a box and see how far you can expand out of it; we have teachers who are meticulous. The full spectrum. It’s one of the great things about the College.
What is it like to do an on-campus internship in the Ringling College Design Center? The Design Center is an on-campus internship and I’m the only junior in there. I’m surrounded by seniors. You’re only as good as the people you work with. When you work with people who are much more skilled than you it pushes you to work that much harder. It’s brought my work to a new level. I’ve learned so much you can’t learn through class projects alone. I’ve learned how to deal one-on-one with clients and printers. I’ve gone on press checks. That’s something you don’t get to do until you get a job.
