Ringling College of Art and Design is recruiting a pool of applicants for teaching in the following studio course/s:
ID 230 (fall semester) Interior Design Graphics
Introduces students to various concepts, techniques and principles of communicating design solutions through drawing typography, and textile and finish material boards. Click here to apply
IL 311 (fall semester) Visual Development I
Visual Development (Character and Environment) Visual Development for Illustrators will challenge students to learn and practice basic concept design techniques such as brainstorming, sensitivity to sequence, movement, compositional design and the development of character backstory and environment. Through their experience of this process, and the reinforcement of filmic language, students will acquire familiarity with the overall production sequence in the creation of films, graphic novels, and games. Students will gain an understanding of the role of the illustrator in the pre-production and production sequence. Click here to apply
IL 312 (spring semester) Visual Development II
The Storyboarding course will review the way story is communicated through sequential narrative. Students should enter this class with a familiarity with the production sequence used in making a time-based narrative. It is expected that students should understand where Visual Development fits into the production sequence. Students are expected to have a beginning familiarity with character and environment design and be able to demonstrate this understanding in storyboard projects over the course of this class. Assignments in this class are designed to refine and strengthen these skills. The capstone project will be an animatic. Click here to apply
Required qualifications for the position include evidence of:
- A master's degree that demonstrates expertise appropriate for teaching a course/s listed in this announcement OR a 4-year professional degree (BFA) in art or design and equivalent expertise, training and experience, with an appropriate record of professional creative achievement
- Professional portfolio demonstrating skills and experience in the curricular area
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
Preferred qualifications include evidence of:
- MFA degree or its equivalent in an appropriate discipline
- College level teaching experience
- Significant professional creative practice
