Our students and alumni are amazing—just see the awards they're racking up!
In 2015, Suncoast American Advertising Federation awarded Ringling 51 ADDYs, including Judges Choice and Best in Show. Most recently, four Motion Design students were awarded National Student ADDY Awards from the American Advertising Federation’s (AAF) annual contest, the industry's largest and most representative competition.
Our students and alumni are regular Emmy and Daytime Emmy Award Winners in all categories. In 2015 alone, three Ringling College alumni have won 2015 Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program, Outstanding Directing in an Animated Program, and Outstanding Main Title Design.
In the last three years, two Ringling alumni have received the Oscar for Best Animated Short. In fact, Ringling alumni have worked on every Academy Award-winning Best Animated Feature since 2003 and computer animation students have won Student Academy Awards 11 times since 1998.
Just this year, a Ringling College student thesis film took home the Best Computer Animated Short award for SIGGRAPH 2015, a category weighing their work against that off working professionals! In 2014, a Ringling Computer Animation senior thesis film was awarded Best Student Project in the Computer Animation Festival at SIGGRAPH Asia.
To date, Ringling College students have won more awards in the 40 year history of the Society of Illustrators than any other college and comprise the highest number of accepted entries into the Society’s annual Student Scholarship Competition. In 2015, 19 Ringling student works were accepted into the competition.
Now in its 6th year, the Collegiate Effie Awards give participants the opportunity to be briefed by a client, address real world business challenges and create marketing communications case studies. This year, Ringling Advertising Design students won First Place in the 2015 Collegiate Effie Brand Challenge, taking home $3,000 with them.
Ringling College's ART Network, the College's official campus television network, recently won three Telly Awards for their student produced videos. The winning projects were produced by students in Film, Motion Design, and Business of Art and Design. Two videos were facilitated by ART Network for the Ringling College Collaboratory program.
In 2015, Ringling College Interior Design students took home two out of four awards from the Robert Bruce Thompson Annual Student Light Fixture Design Competition, the largest student lighting fixture design competition in US. Ringling students have participated in this competition since 2005 and have dominated the competition by producing more winners than any other school.

Our Ad Design and Graphic Design instructors have won the top awards in the industry, including ADDYs and Clios, and have been recognized as AGFA International Young Creatives. They have work published in Print, HOW, Graphis Letterhead 4, AdWeek, ID Magazine, the AIGA Annual, and US Ad Review, and have published best-selling books on design and typography. Some have designed ads for the Ritz Carlton, Expedia, and Sherwin Williams and served as the local chapter president of the American Advertising Federation. And many of them are exhibiting artists, with work shown at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Chicago International Art Expo, and Ruth Siegel Gallery.
Put your creative leadership and entrepreneurial drive to work with faculty who know the ins and out of starting businesses, managing galleries, and leading creative organizations. Our BOAD faculty members are experts in art, design, and entertainment management, film marketing strategy, entrepreneurship, negotiation, organizational behavior museum studies, and more. They have worked with top creative companies including the Walt Disney World Company and Cirque du Soleil and published academic articles and books, including An Investigation Into How the Order Effects of Belief Updating Can Bias Commercial Lenders. They are PhDs in Industrial Organizational Psychology and JDs in Community Economic Development, but they are also curators, gallery managers, and art critics.
It's no secret that our Computer Animation department has consistently been named among the best. Our award-winning faculty has worked on big-budget feature films such as Mulan, Tarzan, Transformers, Avatar, Harry Potter, Ice Age, King Kong, and Finding Nemo, to name just a few. They have worked as animators for the biggest companies, players, and brands in the industry, including Disney, Pixar, Universal, MGM Studios, HGTV, Time Warner, Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, and Marvel Comics with commissions from directors James Cameron and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. They have won ADDYs and the First Place Gold Award for Computer Animation, exhibited at the Walker Art Center Bi-Annual, the Minneapolis Institute of Art Bi-Annual, and the Baltimore Museum Annual, and have created and contributed to Academy Award-winning shorts and films.
Our new Creative Writing major will connect aspiring writers and storytellers with the most creative writers in the business. Our Creative Writing instructors are seasoned writers, authors, journalists, novelists, poets, screenwriters, essayists, and entrepreneurs. Our faculty consists of writers who have authored more than 20 books and published articles in major publications such as The Christian Science Monitor, Harvard Review, and Psychology Today. Among their honors are the Gold Medal in Young Adult Literature from the Florida Book Awards, the Jenny McKean Moore Writer-in-Residency at George Washington University, and a finalist in the New York Short Film Festival.
Our Film department has been named among the top 25 programs in the country, rising in the ranks year after year. That's because our faculty knows what it takes to succeed in the business. Our Film instructors are screenwriters, directors, and cinematographers. They have worked on the sets of award-winning feature films, such as Honeymoon in Vegas, Just One of the Guys, Cadillac Ranch, and Across the Moon in addition to network and cable TV shows such as Boy Meets World. Our instructors have worked in every capacity of the film world, from writers to directors to studio executive for the biggest companies in filmmaking, including MGM Studios, HBO, and Dreamworks. They have won several awards, including a Clio Award for Best Television/Cinema Interactive, the SIGGRAPH International Art Show, and the Nissan FOCUS Award.
Master traditional fine arts concepts and techniques and then push the boundaries of your work to new heights with our award-winning cast of Fine Arts faculty. Our faculty members show all over the globe, at museums and galleries such as the Royal Academy, The National Portrait Gallery, the National Museum of Wales, the Walker Museum of Art, and the Ringling Museum and exhibit at events such as SIGGRAPH, Domefest, Fulldome, and ISEA. Their honors include the Pollock Krasner Award, Vermont Studio Center Full Fellowship, Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artist Award, State University of New York Research Council Award, Louisiana Division of the Arts Artist Award, UCA Research Award, FSU Distinguished Alumni Award, and the Ringling Towers Award for Visual Arts.
Our Game Art faculty is comprised of working, award-winning, artists and designers who are among the best in their field. Their client list includes industry mavens such as Electronic Arts, THQ, 4mm Games, Paizo, Activision Blizzard, and Microsoft Game Studios. They have worked on major titles including Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (PC Unreal engine), Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (PSP), Call of Duty: Roads to Victory (PSP), Lord of the Rings: War in the North, Guardians of Middle Earth, Batman: Arkham City and Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Our faculty members have taken their talents to feature films and worked across every platform.
Our Illustration faculty is comprised of working artists who are excited and passionate about their craft. They boast the top awards in the industry, including the HOW International Design Award, the National Silver ADDY Award in Illustration, a Gold Medal in the Spectrum Awards, and Print's Top 100 Posters of the 20th Century. They have work published in Print Magazine, New York Times Book Review, Detroit News, Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and Blue Sky, and work with clients such as the New Yorker, Chicago Tribune, Esquire, Wall Street Journal Reports, Hallmark, Sports Illustrated, Walt Disney Feature Animation, MasterCard, ABC Television, UPS, IBM, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Federal Express, Delta Airlines, and Absolut. They also exhibit all over the world at venues such as the Houston Museum of Fine Art and the Visual Arts Museum.
Our Interior Design faculty will teach you to design and build new interiors and conceptualize new spaces. They are the best in the industry, recipients of countless honors including the prestigious Joel Polsky Award, Carole Price Shanis Award, ADDY Awards, and a Charlie. Faculty members remain relevant and cutting-edge through involvement with several industry associations, such as American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), and the Interior Design Educators Council, and many are also holders of the NCIDQ certificate. Client work includes,: The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Girls, Inc, the Medical College of Georgia, and Turner Entertainment. Passionate about discovering and utilizing sustainable building materials, many of our instructors are also LEED certified professionals and designers.
Our Motion Design faculty will show you how to design solutions that come to life before your eyes. Learn from instructors who helped shape the world of motion design and earned top industry awards, including Emmys, ADDYs, Tellys, Best in Show at SIGGRAPH, the Communication Arts Design Annual, Behance Portfolio Award, and numerous Art Director Club, AIGA, BDA, PROMAX, Type Directors Club and GRAPHIS awards. Their world-class client roster includes Sony Pictures, the BBC, Google, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, HBO, Starz, Sundance, Showtime, XBOX360, PlayStation 3, The Smithsonian Institute, and working with Marvel Studios on productions like Iron Man 2, and The Avengers.
Our Photography & Imaging faculty will help you push the boundaries of photography using new and traditional techniques. Our instructors exhibit world-class fine art photography at venues around the world, including The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Center for Creative Photography, The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Princeton University Art Museum and Tampa Museum of Art, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Atlanta High Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Cincinnati Museum of Art, Portland Museum of Art, and the Museo Ken Damy in Milan, Italy. They have also worked commercially with the world's top creative companies such as the National Museum of American Art, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, American Film Institute, Ogilvy, and the Washington Project for the Arts.
Liberal Arts faculty at Ringling introduces concepts, questions, issues, and ideologies to enhance your studio work. Our instructors include published authors, artists, designers, critics, and researchers. Their artwork has been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum, Smithsonian Institute, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Baltimore Museum of Art, High Museum of Art, the National Museum of American Art, and the Library of Congress. They are Fulbright Fellows and authors of numerous books, catalogues, graphic novels, children's books, and academic articles on art and design.
