How do I become a Staff Member?
Writing consultants need to be capable writers with an interest in people. As a pre-requisite, they should take Writing Studio (Ringling's required basic composition class) or transfer credit for a similar course from another institution. The ARC hires new consultants each academic year, usually in the Spring semester. If you're interested, drop by the ARC and speak with or e-mail Virginia DeMers and pick up an application. If hired, you must commit to at least one full year of participation. You will have regularly scheduled work and appointment times and bi-weekly staff meetings. Several times a year, the consultants meet for half-day training workshops with Ms. DeMers.
