Add/Drop Week

Add/Drop Week is the first week of each semester when students may make changes to their schedules by adding and dropping courses.  Once Add/Drop Week is over, students schedules are set and may no longer be changed.  Hours for Add/Drop are:  Monday through Thursday – 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and  Friday – 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Courses dropped during the Add/Drop period will not appear on the student’s transcript.  No drops will be permitted after the end of the add/drop period; however, the student may withdraw from a class.  Please see the following section for information governing withdrawals.

After the first week of classes your schedule is set and these are the hours for which you will be billed.  You may not add another course. You also cannot change sections of a course unless you receive special permission from the department head.  You may withdraw from a course with a “Withdraw Passing” grade on your transcript through the 10th academic week.  After the 10th academic week, you will receive a “Withdraw Failing” grade on your transcript and it will impact your grade point average.

Withdrawing from a Course

If you no longer want to continue taking a course, you must officially withdraw from the course.  You must meet with your Academic Advisor in the Office of Advising and Registration Services and complete and sign an Official Course Withdrawal Form.  If you do not complete an Official Course Withdrawal Form and just stop attending the class, you will fail the class and the failure will impact your grade point average.

Withdrawing from College

If you do not plan to return to Ringling College of Art and Design for the next semester, you must complete an Official Withdrawal from College Form.  You must meet with your Advisor or the Registrar to complete the Withdrawal Form before the end of the semester.
