How to Access Library Digital Image Share
In order for faculty to easily access digital images purchased or produced by the Visual Resources Department, Institutional Technology has created a shared server space called \\fileserv\arthist which you can map to a drive on your on-campus computer.
Only faculty have access to this share and can freely download the images for educational use. This is a READ ONLY server. You will not be able to save any additions or changes to this server. This server will only be accessible from on-campus computers and NOT via the web. Image size is 3000 pixals on the long side. This is large enough to zoom in on details. The format is high resolution JPG. Any textbook sets we do will be available on this server, however, these images may be lower resolution JPGs. The arrangement of the files is in flux right now and we welcome any suggestions.
For PC users, go to “My Computer” on your desktop. Select “Map Network Drive” under “Tools.” In the “Drive” box select any letter that is not being used—for example I selected “T.” In the “Folder” box type:
\\fileserv\arthist
Make sure the “Reconnect at Logon” box is checked then click “Finish.” You should now be able to access that drive from your sof6tware or from Windows Explorer.
For MAC users, from the Finder, pull down the “Go” menu and select “Connect to Server.” In the “Address” field enter:
smb://fileserv/arthist
You should be prompted for your user name and password. Enter your information and click ok. You should then see the share icon on your desktop. You can drag that icon to your Dock for easy access the next time you login.
