Ringling College Advertising Design Graduate Wins National Silver Student ADDY Award
June 9, 2013 - Ringling College alumnus Josh Woolbert, a 2013 Advertising Design graduate, won a National Silver Student ADDY Award for his newspaper campaign "LÃ¶wensenf Extra," which was presented during the American Advertising Federations national conference AdAmerica this past Saturday, June 8, in Phoenix, Arizona. Josh's fellow Ad Design classmate and 2013 alumnus Rick St Louis was the photographer for the campaign.
National Cartoonists Society Foundation Selects Illustration Student as Scholarship Winner

Ringling College Launches CONTXT Magazine in iPad, PDF and Print Editions
May 9, 2013 - Ringling College of Art and Design today announced the launch of CONTXT Magazine as a media rich, no-cost iPad application, downloadable PDF file and glossy print publication. CONTXT will be published biannually and focuses on the culture and convergence of art and design through visually rich artwork and intriguing profiles on students, alumni, faculty and visiting artist and creatives. In line with being named by US News as the ‘Most Wired’ campus in the US, Ringling College is again at the forefront of technology with developing CONTXT in a complementary iPad edition format that is highly interactive and content-rich with images, video, links and other multimedia features. CONTXT is the next iteration in the continual evolution of Ringling College’s communications efforts, replacing the award-winning college magazine formerly named ‘Perspectives.’

Illustration Student Wins Scholarship from National Cartoonists Society Foundation
April 26, 2013 - Illustration student, Charlotte Mao, as been awarded a scholarship by the National Cartoonists Society Foundation (NCSF). She was selected from over 65 applicants for the award based on samples of her work and short essays about her current and future plans for cartooning.

Students Win L'Oreal 24-Hour Design Storm Competition
April 17, 2013 - A student team from Ringling College of Art + Design took part in a special project with L'Oreal USA Luxe Division where they created new product packaging designs for products in the L'Oreal USA Luxe brand. The Ringling College team of five students was one of three design schools who participated in a 24-hour "Design Storm" competition and then presented their ideas and designs to the L'Oreal Team.
Fine Arts Alumnus Amer Kobaslija Awarded Fellowship
April 12, 2013 - Ringling College alumnus Amer Kobaslija (Fine Arts, 2003) has been awarded a fellowship by the 2013 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Kobaslija was selected from a group of 3,000 applicants for his on-going project painting the earthquake and tsunami-devastated town of Kesennuma, Japan, and its reconstruction.

33 Entries Accepted to 2013 Society of Illustrators
Ringling College of Art and Design has once again been awarded the top number of entries into the 2013 Society of Illustrators Student Scholarship Competition. Of over 8,000 pieces entered from colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and Canada, only 272 were selected, including 33 from Ringling College students, which is the largest number selected from any single institution.
Sculptor Patrick Dougherty Discusses Sculpture at Future SMOA Site
Feb. 5, 2013 - Internationally renowned sculptor Patrick Dougherty weaves large-scale architectural forms from trees, twigs, vines, and other natural materials. In January 2013, the artist spent three weeks in Sarasota creating one of his unique sculptures on the grounds of the historic Sarasota High School and future home of the Sarasota Museum of Art/SMOA.

Motion Design Students Create Projection Mapping for HuB Grand Opening
Dec. 12, 2012 - The HuB Sarasota building came to life with amazing projection mapping animation when twenty four junior Motion Design students from Ringling College of Art + Design, led by Motion Design faculty Ed Cheetam, Dorian Angello, Jill Taffet, Ron Zeitler, Joe Russ, and Morgan Williams, created an incredible animation which was projected onto the side of the new HuB Building in downtown Sarasota this weekend. The project was a 5-week classroom endeavor created in collaboration with HuB Founder Rich Swier and his business partner Jesse Biter.

Dec. 5, 2012 - Sarasota's artist group S/ART/Q, will complete their 2012 exhibition season with its first out-of-town exhibition in the highly anticipated contemporary art fair, SELECT Fair, taking place in Miami Beach during Art Basel Weekend December 5th- 9th. Formed in late 2008, S/ART/Q is a group of ten professional contemporary artists whose name underscores their connection to the region (a takeoff on the area's tree letter airport code "SRQ" in combination with the word ART) and the central role that art plays in all our lives, especially here on the cultural coast.
2012 Ringling Film Student Wins Award
Nov. 26, 2012 - Ringling College Digital Filmmaking Alum, Sean Benson, earned the award for Best Short Film for his senior thesis film project THE FOREVER at The Florida Motion Picture & Television Association’s 23rd Crystal Reel Awards Gala held in Orlando on Saturday, November 10. The annual FMPTA event honors and highlights outstanding achievements in motion picture, television, audio recording and digital media productions created in Florida over the past year.

August 28, 2012 - Sarasota architect Jerry Sparkman chose Ringling College and six students and three graduates to work collaboratively designing a conceptual interpretation of Siesta Key sand called ‘Origins’. The Biennale exhibit interprets how the quartz sands’ origins and characteristics influence and inspire their work.

TWO Ringling College Students Awarded Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship
July 30, 2012 - Two Ringling College students have been awarded a Worldstudio AIGA Scholarship - Gabriella Thompson ('14, Graphic & Interactive Communications) and Kyle Lopez ('16, Computer Animation). These two students were chosen out of over 400 applicants, with only 16 other students receiving this honor nationwide.

Ringling College Computer Animation Alumni Wins Student Academy Award®!
May 16, 2012 - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced yesterday that 2012 Computer Animation graduate Eric Prah has won a Student Academy Award® for his senior thesis animation "My Little Friend." Eric's short was one of only three Student Academy Awards® selected worldwide in the animation category. Winners will discover if they won a bronze, silver, or gold award at the official ceremony, which will take place in June in Beverly Hills.
Advertising Design Receives D&AD Award Nominations

April 24, 2012 - Forest Whitaker provided the finale for the 2012 Ringling College Digital Filmmaking Studio Lab Season that included Elijah Wood, Edward Burns, James Woods and Whit Stillman. Besides learning directly from film icons, Ringling students also worked on feature film productions including "Spring Breakers" with director Harmony Korine and actress Selena Gomez, and Anna Paquin’s "Free Ride."
Ringling College of Art and Design Captures 23 District ADDY® Awards and Places 3rd in National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC)

March 9, 2012 - Fine Arts alumnus Christian Sampson was invited to participate in Le Nouveau Festival Du Centre Pompidou, in Paris, France. The festival lasts five weeks and includes exhibitions, screenings, conferences and performances designed to create non-stop artistic encounters. A number of Chris’ Plexiglas pieces were exhibited.

Ringling College Wins 61 Local ADDY® Awards
February 28, 2012 - Ringling College once again dominated the ADDY's® by winning 61 awards from this year's local competition*. Of those 61, 14 were in the professional category and 47 were in the student category, including the Student Best of Show award by Deborah Levison for her "Ukiyo" campaign.
