Ringling PDI Senior Exhibits Photography to Benefit Humanity

November 11, 2008 - Ringling PDI senior Christina Swanson will have her photography featured in an exhibit titled ā€œGratitude:  A Photographic Exploration of the Homeless in Tent City.ā€    Her photos help to bring social awareness of the homeless and through this exhibit she hopes that her audience will begin to see the humanity in all people regardless of their financial background or status in society.  Her photograph of a man named Paco was featured in the "Best of Ringling" show last year and is the signature piece of the exhibition.

The exhibit will run from October 17, 2008 through January 2, 2009 at the USF Sarasota-Manatee Selby Auditorium.  It is free and open to the public Monday-Friday from 9:00am - 6:00pm, Saturday 10:00am - 4:00pm, and closed Sunday.

This exhibit is sponsored by the Social Justice Initiative, a new student group on the campus of USF Sarasota-Manatee, which engages students in social justice projects in the local community and nationally.  As part of its mission, the group selects and exhibits the work of local emerging artists in the community who deal with subjects of social and educational relevance.
