US News & World Report Recognizes Ringling College of Art & Design

August 26, 2009 -  US News & World Report's "2010 Edition of America's Best Colleges" recognizes Ringling College of Art & Design as one of the nation's most unique art and design schools and, for the first time, chooses an art and design college to be profiled as part of the Best Colleges Guide "Roadtrips" feature story.

U.S. News reporters visited the Ringling College campus for several days this past spring as part of their cross-country journey. The crew documented the collegiate spirit at four colleges in each of three unique areas of the country: Colorado, Florida, and Chicago.

While at Ringling, they were hosted on a whirlwind tour which included John Williams and Vicky Randall's famous CORE "boat building" project, a glimpse into senior Fine Arts studios and Patrick Lindhart's Bookmaking class, a peek into the Design Center, lunch with student leaders, vists to the Bayou Studios, CA and Game Art & Design Labs, Institutional Technology, the Ulla Searing Student Center and Center for Career Services, and events such as the GIC Portfolio Night and Photography & Digital Imaging Senior Thesis Exhibition. They interviewed the President, longtime faculty member and Ringling College alumnus Fiore Custode and a dozen more faculty, staff and students.

The final story is featured in print on page 32 of the guide and photos of Ringling are also published on pages 73 and 124. The online version includes the story and photos along with five 2009 senior thesis animations selected by U.S. News to be part of their "College Student Spotlight."
