Ringling College of Art and Design Captures 23 District ADDY® Awards and Places 3rd in National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC)
April 16, 2012 - Ringling College of Art and Design professional staff and students captured 23 District ADDY® Awards this weekend including three Gold and one Silver in the professional categories for recruitment marketing and orientation materials, as well as 10 Gold and nine Silver Student ADDY® Awards. All Gold awards will automatically advance to the national competition to be held this June.
ABOUT THE ADDYS®
The ADDY® Awards is the worlds largest advertising completion and represents the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels from anywhere in the world.
NATIONAL STUDENT ADVERTISING COMPETITION (NSAC)
Ringling College also took 3rd place in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), held at the Rosen Center in Orlando, FL this past Friday, April 13, 2012. It was Ringling's first time in the competition, going up against much larger universities who have been competing for a number of years. Florida State University took 2nd place with a score only 2 tenths of a point above Ringling. And 1st place for the second year in a row went to the University of Miami. Other schools in the competition included the University of South Florida and Miami International School of Art and Design.
The NSAC is a premier college strategic communications competition. It provides more than 3,000 college students from across the country with real-world experience by requiring a strategic advertising/marketing/media campaign for a real corporate sponsor. Regional NSAC Competitions are held each spring in 15 districts throughout the U.S. The winning team in each district and one wild card team then advances to compete on the national level at the AAF National Conference in June.
This year's corporate sponsor was Nissan, who asked for an integrated campaign targeting African American, Hispanic and Chinese Millennials. To participate, students were required to complete a 32 page plans book outlining their research, strategy, creative and media plan and deliver a 20 minute presentation to a panel of industry judges. Students who compete in NSAC are able to obtain more industry experience and exposure, land interviews and even earn jobs because of the experience. Visit www.aaf.org/nsac for more info.
Congratulations to the students, staff and faculty in Advertising Design, Business of Art & Design, Graphic & Interactive Communication, Motion Design, Photography & Digital Imaging, and Design Center for their spectacular wins:
