Ringling College Wins 61 Local ADDY® Awards
February 28, 2012 - Ringling College once again dominated the ADDY's® by winning 61 awards from this year's local competition*.  Of those 61, 14 were in the professional category and 47 were in the student category, including the Student Best of Show award to Deborah Levison for her "Ukiyo" campaign.  

Judge's Choice Print went to the Design Center for their 2011/2012 Orientation Poster Illustration and Judge's Choice Student went to Sasha Sickles, Katherine McGee-Russell, Randy Johnson and Aaron Goldberg for their Dorito's Commercial, "Once Upon a Dorito" You can view it here: http://youtu.be/uVhf4j6m2zI

Ringling College Design Center Winners:
14 Professional ADDY Awards went to the Design Center
Breakdown: 8 Golds, 6 Silvers, 2 AMY Awards (awarded to the entries with the highest total points in the major categories)

A Ringling College student was also awarded the AAF-Suncoast Ad Student of the Year Scholarship.  This is the second year this award was presented and it once again went to a Ringling student - Louie Zuniga.

To be considered for this $1,000 scholarship, students had to be enrolled full time at a college or university within Sarasota, Manatee or DeSoto counties, pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in advertising, marketing, graphic design, communications or a related major. Applicants were judged based on 5 different criteria - GPA, resume, letter of recommendation, a personal statement of 250 words and three samples of their work. Three judges scored each applicant independently and their scores were averaged together to give each student a final score.
