The campus is open and operating under a normal schedule.
While there appears to be no immediate or long term threat to the west coast of Florida, the Ringling College Emergency Response Team (ERT) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Sandy.
Sandy is located in the southern Caribbean and is moving to the north. Current forecasts indicate the storm will pass over eastern Cuba, most likely as a category 1 hurricane, then continue moving to the north and possibly to the northeast off the east coast of Florida as a tropical storm. If this track stays the same, our area can expect little or no impact from the system.
Please contact the Office of Public Safety at 941-359-7500 if you have further questions.
STAYING INFORMED AND PREPARED
Ringling College and the Office of Public Safety make every effort to ensure that the Ringling College community is aware of weather warnings as they are issued. To this end we provide several links to local area broadcasting outlets and the National Hurricane Center that have the most up to the minute storm tracking reports to keep apprised of storm status.
As usual, during any storm event, all members of the Ringling College community are advised to monitor the website for any new developments on campus, such as cancellation, event schedule changes and closures.
Now would be a good time to review the Ringling College Emergency Procedures as well as your personal hurricane preparedness plan. The procedure only takes a minute to review and will help you stay informed.
