October 29, 2008 - The Photography and Digital Imaging Department is pleased to invite the Ringling College Community to a presentation by visiting artist, Min Kim Park on Monday, November 3, 2008. The presentation will be held on the first floor of the Deborah M. Cooley Photography Center at 12:30 p.m.

Min Kim Park, born in South Korea, has been exploring issues revolving around gender, ethnicity and identity using multi-media performance, video and sound installation, web art and photography. Her work draws from her experience as a journalist working for The Korea News Daily and The Korean American Broadcasting Company in Chicago. She received an MFA degree in photography from the University of New Mexico and currently teaches in the department of art and technology at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the department of art theory and practice at Northwestern University.

Recently Ms. Park has been exhibiting and performing her work both nationally and internationally. Her recent video work, “Perfect Asian Woman” is included in “ArtDisk” a DVD magazine, which was screened at two venues; Miami MOCA and Artificial Light during Art Basel Miami, 2006. In 2007 she exhibited a collaborative interactive video installation in the show “Art and Artifice of Science” at the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe. Her current work “Zummarella” will be shown at Emory University and Arizona State University in 2009. She is also a recipient of an artist in residency grant at the Bemis Contemporary Art Center in 2009.
