Irene Kauffman has lived in Sarasota for 37 years. She has been involved in commercial property management for 15 years. Prior to that, she was an R.N. in a prominent orthopedic practice for 12 years.

She and her husband are avid tennis players and are active collectors of Twentieth Century Modern Art. Their collection has been exhibited in several museums during the last decade.

Irene is a former board member of the Asolo Theatre and was formerly a trustee of Ringling College of Art and Design.

She recently organized and chaired a docent program for the Patrick Dougherty and Lisa Hoke art exhibits, involving 25 community members.

Irene has been the Secretary of the Sarasota Museum of Art (SMOA) Board of Directors since its inception. She is also a member of the original Founders Circle. With her strong interest in art, a modern art museum for Sarasota is her dream.
