For the Summer of 2015, each day of the week focuses on a different type of creative media.  Morning classes offer adults the opportunity to try something new or take up a creative practice and afternoon sessions give youth an opportunity to up their creative game while school’s out for the summer!

Painting Techniques with Maggie McClellan

Explore the fundamentals of design and painting in this approachable and fun painting techniques class.  Emphasis will be on structure, composition, color, and value, as well as on the creative journey of personal expression.  Students are encouraged to bring their own references for inspiration.

Take the frustration out of observational drawing by understanding the fundamental elements of representational rendering.  Emphasis will be on composition, measuring, space, line, shape, form, gesture, and value.  Students will use various drawing media to capture still lifes and landscapes.

Explore Ceramics: An Introduction to Working with Clay with Erica Groff

Explore the tactile and fun nature of clay in this introduction to the medium.  Emphasis will be on the fundamental skills, vocabulary, equipment, materials, and preparations specific to ceramics.  Each 5-week series will focus on a specific project.  Students should come prepared with creative ideas for personalizing their projects, as well as ideas for building their own original clay creations. Some examples of projects include: wind chimes, votive luminaries, holiday décor and themed serving trays.

NOTE: Price includes up to 25 pounds of clay (for in class project use only), glazes, and firing.  Additional clay may be purchased from EAC.  Students must adhere to the EAC’s Pottery Studio Policies and Procedures.

Educational classes offered each session must meet the minimum enrollment in order for the class to run. No exceptions. You can help make these programs successful by registering early.

ALWAYS request a supply list when registering for a class or workshop. Full tuition must be paid upon registration.


Refunds will be given (less a $10 service fee) for tuition paid if requested at least 10 business days prior to the beginning of a class or workshop. Payments made by credit card will be refunded to the card used when purchasing the class. Payments made by cash or check will be refunded by check and may take up to 30 days to process. Refund requests can also be processed in the form of an EAC gift card to be used for future class fees.

No refund will be given if the cancellation is less than the noted period of time prior to the start of the class/workshop unless a wait-listed student can fill the vacated space. In this case a refund will be issued less a $10 service fee.

If Englewood Art Center cancels a class/workshop, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and a full refund will be provided.
