Introduction to Weaving

Create a beautiful, woven piece using a simple pin-frame loom. Produce rich variations in pattern and design by exploring different warp and weft arrangements. This course introduces basic weaving and finishing techniques, and
offers a brief overview of the craft from a historical perspective.

NOTE: Price includes class materials: a simple pin-frame loom and use of weaving materials. Students are welcome and encouraged to bring their own selections of yarn, fabric, ribbon string, or other materials for weaving to include in their project.

Dye Transfer Silk Scarf
Creating a (35" square or 14 x 72" long) silk scarf utilizing (an easy!) dye transfer technique.

Using a simple dye transfer method, students in this class will transform an ordinary piece of silk into an extraordinatry scarf, for daily use or a decorative touch. In the first session, students will learn the process of designing, and dying the scarves through the dye transfer process. In the second session, Marianne will help students finish their scarves with their choice of beads, fringe, fabric markers, etc...the opportunities are endless!

NOTE: Price includes class materials: a single 35" square or 14" x 72" silk scarf. Students are welcome to bring their own silk fabric and encouraged to bring personal embellishments (beads, fringe, etc...)

Introduction to Felt Making

Explore the ancient art of feltmaking in this course introducing the history, equipment, and techniques of this rich textile. Learn the basics of the wet feltmaking process as you experiment with blending colors and textures in
your unique felt wall hanging.
