Capture powerful digital photographs by using the wide array of camera functions available beyond the automatic settings. Fundamental photography principles will be introduced. Students will be encouraged to explore the aesthetics of digital photography and master the terminology associated with the medium. This course includes classroom learning and field experience.

Gain hands-on field experience while learning how to use lighting, exposure, and composition to consistently capture beautiful digital images. Realize the potential of your camera by mastering its particular settings. These interactive, fun workshops are held at local scenic vistas or varied unique locations.

NOTE: Students must bring camera equipment, sunscreen, insect repellent, a snack and plenty of water.

Learn the industry-standard program for digital image manipulation. A step-by-step process will introduce key concepts, including tools, option bars, and panels. Correct and enhance images using layers and masks. Work with RAW file formats and navigate images with Bridge and Mini Bridge. This course promises to take your photos to a whole new level.  

PREREQUISITE: Basic computer proficiency

NOTE: Students seeking the a CSSP certificate in General Studies in Photography (P) and/or Digital Graphics (G)  must take both sections to receive credit for the course. There is an additional $25 registration fee for CSSP certificate classes.  You must identify the class as part of CSSP certificate course work at the time of registration in order to receive CSSP credit for completing the course.

In section A of this (optional) 2 part series, students learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator, the industry standard through projects beginning with basic tracing of personal drawings.  Students are directed step-by-step on how to use components of Illustrator. In section B, students will refine their skills and have the ability to complete a fully finished vector illustration.  By the end of this course students use the software as comfortably as they would a pencil.
