Printmaking: Introduction to Printmaking

Explore the basic concepts and practice of etching through drypoint technique and other direct simple printmaking processes.  Contemporary materials, tools, and non-toxic environmentally safe practical applications will be used to create prints as traditional as Rembrandt or as interpretive as the imagination allows.  A variety of approaches and techniques will be explored.  Be prepared to learn new skills and refine and focus those previously achieved through the medium of Print.  The endlessly versatile process of making prints will uncork a world of visual possibilities.

Learn or refine the art of relief printing in this two day workshop.  Relief prints will be created on linoleum blocks and made into handcrafted greeting cards.  Variations in techniques and materials will be utilized  to customize and personalize these creations.  Multiple printings will allow each student to create cards that are a unique expression of their own one-of-a-kind imprint. Artists have frequently made their own greeting cards.  It is a time honored practice.  Be part of that free-spirited rich tradition.
