JEWELRY
Our modern jewelry studio at LBKCA is the place to begin your artistic journey into the world of Jewelry making. With large windows and skylights, artists work and enjoy the natural light and beautiful surroundings of Longboat Key. Our jewelry studio is furnished and fully equipped with individual workstations, flex shafts, soldering area, polishing room, rolling mills, and forming equipment including a Hydraulic press. Our studio can meet the needs of Jewelry artists at any level.
Silver and some jewelry supplies can be purchased in class
Longboat Key Center for the Arts will be offering classes during the months of January through April 2013 . FORGING SILVER JEWELRY

Using the magic of a ball peen hammer/a steel block and a pair of half round pliers, the creative world of forged jewelry is open to you. Learn the ability to forge round, square wire or sheet metal to create jewelry having the unique appearance of sculpture that is to be worn. Bring any tools and material that you would like to work with but most of all bring your enthusiasm and your imagination. Various metals will be explored.

Beginning Jewelry (Project Based)

$155.00 per 4 week session.

Description:This course is suitable for students with no previous experience in Jewelry making, as well as those with basic skills. This will be a project-oriented class. All students will learn how to design and create a pendant and different types of bracelets, including a chain linked bracelet with your own clasp. Everyone in the class will be introduced to studio safety, proper use of hand tools and equipment, as well as the fundamentals of jewelry making. Students will gain knowledge of sawing, filing, basic forming, texturing, polishing and soldering skills.
There also will be an introduction into the layout and design of jewelry making. All participants will have the opportunity to get hands on experience while making jewelry you can wear home with pride!
There will be a 30 minute break for lunch.

Description: This course is designed for those with previous experience. This class is project-oriented and will provide a chance for students to expand on their beginning skills. In this class we will explore the many different types of making rings, with and without stones. Students will gain knowledge in the design and layout of a ring, sizing information, various ways to texture and form a ring while making it truly unique. Basic stone setting will be introduced as a way to Incorporate stones into your ring.
There will be a 30 minute break for lunch.
