LOUIS CABOT PHOTOGRAPHY
On display through December 18 in our Cultural Media Room

Stop by to enjoy photographs of Longboat Key and beyond captured by photographer Louis Cabot. A recipient of LBKCA's 2013 Ageless Creativity Award, Louis Cabot has been photographing his environment for most of his life.

Bio

Born and bred in Boston, Cabot's career and commitments included running a multinational chemical company, chairing the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, and participating in the governing boards of Harvard and MIT. 
He and his wife, Mabel (Muffie) now live on Longboat Key, Florida. They have, between them, thirteen children and stepchildren and twenty-two grandchildren. Summers they spend mostly in Maine.

Longboat Key LUMINARIES recognizes visual and performing artists who demonstrate mastery and discipline in the pursuit of their art form, choose the creative process as an integral part of their lives, and maintain strong ties to the Longboat Key community.

By recognizing the talents of area artists, our Ageless Creativity honorees affirm how the pursuit of the creative process transcends time, engages both our physical and mental agility, and provides resolution to an ever-evolving search for identity through imagination and courage.

  • Longboat Key Luminaries Panel Discussion: Thursday, October 30, 5-7 PM
    Moderated by Tom Esselman of Institute for the Ages, this lively discussion will delve into the perspectives and processes behind the work of the talented artists being recognized this year.  Discover their passion, courage, approach and perseverance for creating unique and inspired works of art from concept to actualization.

Habatat Galleries: Reflections From the Fire

Experience exhibitions, a live auction, lectures and film devoted to glass sculpture representing artists from all around the world. Curated by Ferdinand Hampson, Founder/Director HABATAT Gallery, Detroit, MI. You won’t want to miss any of these activities and events!

Susanna Spann Reflections in Watercolor
On display in our Cultural Corridor
January 13- May 14

Marvel at the how Susanna captures the reflections of glass and water in her paintings. Then stop into our gallery to see the glass pieces from Habatat to round out your visit.

Susanna Spann is a signature member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society and Florida Watercolor Society. She earned her BFA and Master of Arts at Arizona State University. Susanna has won over 700 awards for her paintings and drawings, and her work has appeared in 12 books as well as her own book Painting Crystal and Flowers in Watercolor.

Upcoming Master Class: Susanna will also be leading a workshop, Painting Reflective Surfaces, to demystify the process of painting transparent and reflective subjects.

Florida Artist Group, Inc
April 10 - May 14
On display in our Durante Gallery

Stop by for the last exhibition of the Season to celebrate the truly incredible work of our Florida artists. This show will consist of artworks of varied media created by the talented members of the Florida Artist Group, Inc (FLAG).

FLAG is made up of artists whose work has attained national or state-wide recognition. The purpose of the group is to stimulate attainment of the highest standards of creative art within the State of Florida. We are pleased to be offering this show to our communities in Sarasota and Manatee counties.
