2013 Learning Labs
LEARNING LABS
Have you always wanted to try drawing or painting? Have you thought about finding an outlet where you can access your personal intuitive creativity and ideas? Are you longing to be challenged and engaged in visual art making?
Look no further.
LBKCA will be offering you the solution to access your creativity, experience a variety of materials, and learn from the best and brightest at Ringling College.
Every Wednesday during the months of January, February and March from 1 to 4 pm, you are invited to participate in a lively demonstration of techniques and materials, receive assistance and guidance from your RCAD student mentors, and walk away with a piece of artwork that expresses your creativity and understanding of the visual playing field available anytime you want to engage in making a piece of art. No previous art background required!
Cost: $35 for each 3 hour Learning Lab. ALL MATERIALS WILL BE PROVIDED
Please register in advance for all Learning Labs in order to have enough material available.
Experience your creativity in a relaxed atmosphere of play and imagination!

COMPOSITION AND DESIGN
Composition and Design are essential to any drawing or painting. It is the composition and design of any work of art that distinguishes the masters from the amateurs, and the competition prize winner from the rest. In this Learning Lab you will explore many of the key ideas and principles of design and how to apply these principles to make an interesting and provocative piece of art.

DRAWING AND MATERIALS
Through experimentation with various materials and methods, you will be able to learn basic drawing skills using direct observation and your imagination. Line, form, shape, perspective and composition will be explored as you discover your personal areas of creative interest. At the end of this 3 hour lab, you will feel competent to begin drawings on your own or take a class with a foundation of knowledge.

COLOR AND VALUES
The study of color supports the understanding of all visual media. This Color and Values Learning Lab features introductory, hands on study of color that acquaints students with color hues, values, color harmony, and its importance in visual communications. At the end of your color and value experience, you will be able to use color that communicates not only a visual literacy but delivers an emotional impact as well.

PAINTING AND MATERIALS
This Learning Lab explores the art of painting and the various materials used in this visual expression. Upon completion of this 3 hour lab, students will have become familiar with the tools of painting (paint, mediums, brushes, paper and canvas) and will have experienced through various exercises the development of your own original painting.
