Bernard Canniffe, B.A., M.F.A.
Newport College of Art & Design, University of Wales (Graphic Design); Savannah College of Art and Design. Mr. Canniffe, originally from Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, has made presentations on design for the common good at international medical, design, and academic conferences throughout the world. He was a presenter at the Cumulus Design Conference in Portugal; National Institute of Design Conference Ahmedabad, India; Willem de Kooning Academie, Holland; Zayed University, Dubai; Osaka University, Japan; Shinghwah University, China; Samsung Design Academy, South Korea; Yale University, Connecticut; P&D Design Conference, Brazil; Virginia Commonwealth University, Qatar, and Johns Hopkins University, Maryland. Mr. Canniffe has led design projects and workshops that address socioeconomic and cultural topics, and he has spent the last several years working extensively in the Middle East developing mechanisms to promote cultural acceptance. Mr. Canniffe is the recipient of the Graphis: Inspiring Designers for the New Millennium Award, 2000, the Baltimore Step 10 Most Influential Designers Award, and The Joseph Binder Award, 2010. His work has been published in Graphis, HOW, STEP, Metropolis, GOOD, PRINT, Concept-Indonesia, Design-South Korea and CCPH Perspectives.
David Foote, B.F.A., M.F.A.
Maryland Institute College of Art (Graphic Design); Savannah College of Art and Design (Graphic Design). Mr. Foote comes to Ringling from Savannah College of Art and Design, where he held the positions of Professor of Graphic Design and Advertising Design, Advertising Design Department Chair, and Director of Academic Initiatives. He developed and produced the SCADDY’s, SCAD’s first campus-wide multi-major student awards. David's 20 year career as an advertising professional has garnered a wide range of national and global clients, resulting in industry creative awards including a National ADDY® and a Clio.
Angela Leed, B.F.A., M.F.A.
Indiana University South Bend, IN (Graphic Design); Bowling Green State University, OH (2 Dimensional Studies). Ms. Leed’s work has been shown in exhibitions throughout Chicago, New York and Indiana. She has received numerous awards, including an Individual Artist Grant from the Indiana Arts Council. Support from the IAC made possible her traveling exhibition, Manufactured Community. In 2008, Angela brought together a communications agency and artist research staff to create the Inspirative gallery, through which, an internship program was created in partnership with Bethel College.
Vivian Owen, B.A., M.A.
Xavier University (Communications/Advertising); Michigan State University (Advertising). Ms. Owen has seven years of professional experience in the advertising industry, specifically in the creative and copywriting departments of the business. She comes to Ringling from The Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee, FL where she held the position of Senior Copywriter. During her career, she has also worked at Doner in Detroit, Michigan and Barefoot Advertising in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Owen has written ads for national clients such as The Ritz-Carlton, Aflac, Steak ‘n Shake, Expedia.com, Eureka, Sherwin Williams, Mr. Clean and Swiffer. Her work has been recognized through multiple industry awards in the ADDY® ’s competition and was most recently honored in Adweek’s Ad of the Day feature.
