Ringling College to Host National Portfolio Day January 25, 2009 January 5, 2009 - Ringling College will host National Porfolio Day, an event specifically geared for visual artists and designers. National Portfolio Day gives prospective art students the opportuntiy to have their artwork reviewed by college representatives and obtain feedback, helping to further the development of the student's artwork and ready them for applying and submitting an actual portfolio to the art school of their choice. Ringling's Selby Gallery Presents "Thomas Woodruff's Freak Parade" Exhibit December 18, 2008 - Ringling College of Art and Design and Selby Gallery present "Thomas Woodruff's Freak Parade", featuring a series of 34 large sideshow banner- like paintings of fantastic characters, bizarre animals, magical insects and strange plants by the postmodernist artist-illustrator, Thomas Woodruff. Ringling College Interior Design Students Win 2009 ASID Student Competition December 11, 2008 - Senior interior design major Aubrey Pendleton won "Best of Show" at the annual Florida West Coast Chapter ASID Student Design competition. In the preliminary round of judging, interior design student Tracie Lutz won first prize in the Residential category among Ringling's student entries for her ID2 residential project. Ringling College Wins Engaged Campus Award December 5, 2008 - Ringling College of Art and Design was recently awarded the Engaged Campus Award for exemplary commitment to being an “engaged campus.” Ringling College Wins Florida iVote Video Contest December 5, 2008 - Ringling College of Art and Design was announced the winner of the Florida Campus Compact iVote Election 2008 Video Contest. Ringling College Mentioned in New York Times November 27, 2008 - Ringling College of Art and Design was mentioned in today's edition of the New York Times in an article entitled Shifting Careers: Transforming Art Into a More Lucrative Career Choice by Marci Alboher. Ringling College Gets Keys to Historic Sarasota High School November 17, 2008 - The Sarasota County School Board turned over the keys to the historic Sarasota High School building to the Ringling College of Art and Design today in a ceremony on the high school grounds. Ringling Computer Animation Student Receives EA Scholarship October 6, 2008 - Ringling Computer Animation senior Greg Hettinger has been awarded a $10,000 scholarship from Electronic Arts (EA) – the Randy Pausch Memorial Scholarship. Greg is one of only three interns this summer awarded a scholarship and was selected from over 100 interns nationwide who spent the summer working in EA studios around the country. Ringling Student Jihad Lahham Wins Rockport Design Challenge for Second Straight Year October 2, 2008 - For the second year in a row, Jihad Lahham has won the Rockport Student Design Challenge. His concept was selected out of 25 final entries from other participating art colleges including Pratt, Parsons and RISD. Ringling Interior Design Students Win Prestigious Donghia Award Sept. 18, 2008 - Two Ringling interior design students, Ashley Bright and Elizabeth Langford, have each been awarded a $30,000 scholarship in the seventh annual Angelo Donghia Foundation Student Portfolio Competition. Ringling ID Students Win 3 of 5 Robert Bruce Thompson Light Fixture Design Awards Sept. 18, 2008 - Every year that Ringling College interior design students have participated in the Robert Bruce Thompson Annual Student Light Fixture Design Competition, they have had at least one winner, and this year is no exception. However, this year Ringling students not only won one of the esteemed awards, but three! Ringling Grad Carolyn Anderson to Have Film Featured in SIGGRAPH Exhibition August 7, 2008 - Ringling College computer animation graduate Carolyn Anderson ('08) will have her senior thesis film "Box Racer" featured in a juried exhibition at the 2008 SIGGRAPH show in Los Angeles.
