Ringling College and the EDC Present First Innovation by Creative Design Award to Osprey Biotechnics

This past Friday, Ringling College of Art and Design and the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County awarded the first Innovation by Creative Design Award to Osprey Biotechnics at the 2015 Annual EDC Meeting in Sarasota. Osprey Biotechnics was awarded for its creative solution to eliminating the use of non-medical antibiotics in poultry feed, an issue that has resulted in drug resistance in both animals and humans alike. Dr. Larry R. Thompson, president of Ringling College, commented on the creative solution, “Creativity comes in all shapes and sizes and is applicable to any challenge, as evidenced by Osprey Biotechnics’ brilliant work in applying probiotics to improve feed utilization and thus eliminate the need for antibiotics in poultry farming. Their work is especially significant as it will result in a healthier world not just for us, but for generations to come.”
