In the summer of 2015, Ringling College and David Shapiro of Semkhor Networks as Co-Executive producers, provided the opportunity for 14 Ringling College students and recent graduates to work with acclaimed director Tim Sutton on his film, ‘Dark Night.’
In January, 2016 ‘Dark Night’ premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to enthusiastic critical acclaim. A group of Ringling College students and graduates who worked on the film were at Sundance to support Tim and their film, participate in the premiere and meet with film industry leaders. In addition, a Ringling illustration student responsible for the design and logo for Adrian Grenier’s film ‘Lonely Whale’ worked with him at Sundance to help launch their project.
This page tells the story of their voyage to Sundance, and the uniqueness of their experience. No other college is providing collaborative experiential professional work opportunities to students before graduation and preparing them for professional success like Ringling College is.
