DEEP Professional Development Certificate
The DEEP Certificate Program is designed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of Ringling College faculty, staff, and students on key issues related to identity, cultural understanding, and fostering an inclusive and respectful campus environment. Through a mix of engaging workshops and participation in multicultural events, the program helps enrich our community.

You can choose workshops in any order and at your own pace.
To receive the DEEP Certificate:
Certificate levels:
- Level 1: Foundations of Diversity and Equity
- Complete four workshops and two on-campus multicultural events.
- Level 2: Advancement Engagement in Diversity and Equity
- Complete eight workshops and four multicultural events (on or off-campus).
Event tracking:
Participants can keep track of their multicultural event attendance by downloading the record of attendance and getting it signed by the event coordinator at each event. Further instructions will be provided in each workshop.
Pre-Workshop Events:
Note that multicultural events attended before starting the workshops may not be counted.

Intro to Intersecting Identities

This workshop provides an introduction to the concept of identity and intersectionality. It will explore the idea that we all have unique and complex identities that affect how we experience the world. Participants will be able to gain insight into the influence of their own intersecting identities while increasing their understanding of intersectionality from a sociocultural and generational perspective.

Safe Zones 102 – Supporting 2SLGBTQ+ Populations

This is a specialized workshop focusing on understanding and supporting 2SLGBTQ+ populations. This session delves deeper into the unique experiences, challenges, and resilience of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. Participants will explore topics and barriers to inclusivity faced by these communities. Through interactive exercises and practical strategies, attendees will gain valuable insights into how to advocate for and create safe spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals within educational and professional settings.

As U.S. citizens, many of us will never understand the grueling process of getting a visa. For us, it’s generally simple paperwork and a few formalities. For international students to enter the U.S., however, there are numerous and sometimes intimidating steps involved. A panel of international students will share the stressful and sometimes traumatizing ordeal of obtaining a student visa for Fall 2025. Listen to our students’ tales of the challenges they faced while obtaining a visa to study at Ringling College.
