Ringling College of Art and Design, Virtual Commencement Ceremony

Thursday, May 13, 2021, 3:30 pm (EDT)

On behalf of the Ringling College community, we would like to invite you to our virtual Commencement Ceremony honoring the Classes of 2021 and 2020. Join us and celebrate your graduation with your classmates, family members, favorite professors, and members of our campus community.

The Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for 3:30 pm (EDT) on Thursday, May 13, 2021 and will continue to be accessible for viewing on our website through the summer.

Graduates can share their special moments of achievement on our social wall which will be accessible one week prior to the Ceremony and will stay live for one week following the event. We encourage everyone to enjoy and post their photos leading up to the big day!

To contribute, share your photos to Instagram with the hashtag #RinglingGrads. Your cap and gown selfies, group shots, decorated caps, and all of the other excitement will appear on the Ringling College Commencement web page for your biggest supporters to see.

*All digital photos/videos will be reviewed and approved before being added to the social wall.

Aubrey O’Brien is an award-winning interior designer and international artist whose work philosophy is relentlessly optimistic, undaunted by ambiguity, and infused with passion, purpose, and a commitment to quality materials and construction. She’s the founder of her eponymous design firm, Aubrey O’Brien Inc.

To Aubrey, every space is an intimate reflection of the client who inhabits the space, as seen through her unique point of view. There’s no copy and paste. Her company excels in sourcing and styling unique selections, designing custom furniture, and bespoke design. Aubrey often finds sources of inspiration and innovation by getting her hands dirty in the design process. To further educate herself, Aubrey apprenticed with an Italian woodworker and also took up welding, discovering a vast admiration for metalwork.

You could say it runs in the family. Aubrey grew up an ambitious artist with parents in the interior design and custom construction industry. She was reading floor plans and walking job sites at a very young age. She graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design as the Presidential Scholar for Interior Design. She earned her LEED accreditation and began her interior design career designing the resorts for the Walt Disney Company.

Prior to opening her firm, Aubrey spent time designing for multiple runway brands in the fashion industry, followed by an artist residency in Shanghai, and also designed for an architecture firm in New York City where she worked on multi-million dollar residential and hospitality projects.

Outside the art and design studio, Aubrey is an adjunct professor teaching Intro into Interior Design and History of Interior Design. Aubrey is currently bi-coastal, splitting her time between New York and Sarasota, following in the footsteps of her favorite childhood architect, Paul Rudolph.

DUE Wednesday, April 28. Upload a personal photo as well as a quote and/or statement to represent you in the virtual Ceremony. Direct links were sent to all 2021 and 2020 graduates through text message and official Ringling College emails.

Your Commencement Package is being prepared and will soon be available:

  • For seniors that are living on campus or locally in Sarasota, you will be notified to collect your package from Mail Services. These will be available on Friday, April 23.
  • For seniors that are remote domestically and internationally, packages will be sent to your preferred mailing address on file and mailed out by the end of April.

Each senior will be given eight Ringling College Commencement Announcements, three Commencement Programs, and additional gift items from Student Life and Alumni Affairs. For those that completed the Regalia order on time, cap/gown/tassels will also be included in the Commencement Package.

We need to know where to mail your diploma after graduation!

Once final grades are in and your advisor certifies your degree, we will order your diplomas and they will be shipped directly to you. You will receive your diploma in late May or June, so please use an address that will work at that time. Please do not use your on-campus address if you have one. If you do not know where you will be living at that time, consider mailing it to a relative or trusted friend. You will receive two shipments from us: One shipment will be your diploma; the second your diploma cover.

Be sure your information is up-to-date in the Self-Service portal. For those of you that are local and use your campus mailbox, don’t forget to complete a mail forwarding form at Mail Services.

For seniors that are living on campus, housing closes for all students on Friday, May 14, 2021 at 4:30 pm. Please contact with any questions and/or concerns.

Stay connected! Ringling College is here to support you in any way we can, even after graduation.

The Alfred R. Goldstein Library features a wide variety of quiet, group study, and work process spaces. Looking for a quiet study area? Make your way up to the 3rd floor to look for a book in the Research Collection or peruse the new art magazines while relaxing in comfortable seating. When the weather is nice, you can take your coffee from Roberta’s Café on the first floor to one of the four terraces to work outside and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Looking for meeting space to get together with a group? Check out the group study rooms, which are available on all three floors of the Goldstein Library. The 10 group study rooms are available to students on a first-come first served basis, or available for booking by Ringling College faculty and staff for group and class meetings.
