Lisa Fields ’06, Illustration, has received a 2024 Christopher Award for her work on a children’s book about prayer and parent/child relationships. When I Talk to God, I Talk About You (Penguin) was co-written by Chrissy Metz, star of NBC’s This Is Us, and songwriter Bradley Collins, with illustrations by Fields depicting animal parents and their babies discussing how they pray to God.
When I Talk to God, I Talk About You introduces young readers to prayer through the loving relationships between parents and their children. Fields, who is currently based in New York, created warm, expressive illustrations of bears, rabbits, otters, raccoons, and other animals to help tell the story.
Now celebrating their 75th year, the Christopher Awards recognize films, television, and books that promote the human spirit and Judeo-Christian positivity. A total of 23 works received “Christophers” this year, including Oscar-winning film The Holdovers and nonfiction book What We Remember Will Be Saved about Syrian and Iraqi refugees from different faiths preserving their cultures and kindness in new homes.
