This May, the first-annual Faculty and Staff Awards at Ringling College of Art and Design recognized the outstanding contributions made to the College’s work and culture. The inaugural event presented six awards honoring teaching, dedication, leadership in diversity and inclusion, behind-the-scenes advancements, career service, and innovative contributions. Seven faculty and staff members received awards.
The event gave faculty and staff the opportunity to express their gratitude to each other for the hard work, commitment, and passion they provide to the Ringling College community every day.
The 2024 Honorees and their awards
Sharon Wilson: The Service Distinction Award, which acknowledges the valuable contributions of employees who frequently fulfill responsibilities “behind the scenes.”
Allen Harrison and Catherine Mougalian: The Outstanding Teaching Award, for exhibiting exemplary performance in classroom instruction, particularly evident through successful interpersonal interactions with students.
Amy Pettengill: The Outstanding Staff Award, recognizing excellence in job performance, a sincere dedication to personal and professional growth, and a demonstrated commitment to college and community service.
Melanie Thomas: The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award, presented to a person who exhibits exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing, developing, and promoting sustainable diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence and serves as a catalyst for change across the campus and community.
Tony Rice: Distinguished Faculty Award, celebrating outstanding contributions across the spectrum of an extensive career—embracing excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Cyndi Flannigan: The Milestone Award, given to a faculty, staff member, or administrator who exhibits an outstanding record of proficiency, resourcefulness, and commitment. This award is presented in recognition for significant and innovative contributions that have expanded the College’s service to students and the community, along with demonstrated leadership in educational, social, and professional programs.
Ringling College president Dr. Larry R. Thompson was honored with a video of best wishes and congratulations for his 25 years in office.
