“Three months into my tenure as Ringling College’s seventh president, and I had the chance to share some reflections with SRQ Magazine on what drew me here,” writes Dr. Davis Schneiderman, president of Ringling College of Art and Design.
“The upshot: I believe we need creative people now more than ever. Every scientific achievement we celebrate, we understand through story, song, film, illustration, games. Art and design aren’t decoration on top of human progress; they’re how we make sense of it.”
“I have taught everything from AI and drones to the Grateful Dead and American Culture over the last decades, and I’ve spent a career at that intersection of creativity and change. What strikes me about Ringling College is how deeply that spirit runs, not just in our students and faculty, but in how we reach into this community, through Sarasota Art Museum, OLLI, our TOWN HALL Speaker Series, and so many partnerships built over decades.”
“A mentor once told me that every organization has different chapters, but they’re all part of the same book. Much of Ringling’s next chapter hasn’t been written yet. I’m looking forward to writing it together, in every form of media we can imagine.”
