Ringling College featured on Fox 13 for new 2D Animation degree

Ringling College of Art and Design was recently featured on Fox 13 News (Tampa Bay) for the launch of its new 2D Character Animation degree, set to begin in fall 2027. The segment highlighted the program’s aim to revive traditional hand-drawn animation skills for students headed toward major studios, freelance careers, or independent productions, noting the medium’s resurgence in indie projects and anime. It included an interview with faculty member Tammy Zeitler, a Warner Bros. and Disney animation veteran whose credits include Tiny Toon Adventures, Animaniacs, and Lilo & Stitch, who spoke about the emotional power and creative independence hand-drawn animation offers artists. The feature also showcased the historic animation desks donated by Walt Disney Feature Animation Florida, the same desks used to animate films like Mulan and Tarzan—and touched on alumni success stories, including 2016 graduate Echo Wu, an Emmy winner for Netflix’s Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld.
