Interior Design

A Better World by Design
BFA Program

Interior designers craft the environments that surround us at home, at school, at work, and at play and fill our daily lives with beauty and functionality. No wonder they’re in such high demand, with Fortune 500 companies, governments, and nonprofits lining up to hire interior designers to create spaces that enhance and improve user experience.

As a Ringling College Interior Design major, you will master the concepts of color, texture, form, light, and empty space. You will consider the essential components of sustainable design and discover innovative building materials. We will challenge you to analyze existing spaces and environments and compose plans for future interiors, before taking your designs to the next level in both real and virtual contexts. To connect you with industry professionals, emerging interior designers, and professional resources, we also maintain relationships with industry associations like the American Society of Interior Designers, the International Interior Design Association, Emerging Green Builders, and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation. Graduate ready to jump right into a creative career doing what you love.

Turning Passion Into Profession

Opportunities for Interior Design students

Studio Experience
The studio experience is built on a professional practice model that incorporates professionals from the field, actual projects, and “what if” scenarios that encourage innovation and creativity! There is no limit to what students are inspired and encouraged to do and the interior design program thrives on students individualism and development. In a changing world design has impact…and interior designers can make a difference. (#designmatters)

Professional Networking
The interior design faculty at Ringling College brings local, national, and international connections to the program. Through networking opportunities, guest speakers, and field trips, students engage in the interior design profession throughout their experience and learn first-hand the exciting world of design! Students may travel to Chicago for NEOCON, the world’s largest commercial interior design exhibition and trade show to explore products and network.

The Collaboratory
We are proud to say that every Ringling student, regardless of major, is guaranteed the opportunity to gain professional work experience. Our Collaboratory Commitment pairs teams of Ringling students with local businesses to give students a taste of real-world projects, expectations, and deadlines. Facilitated by Collaboratory staff, students will meet with clients looking for creative, unconventional solutions to their branding and design challenges and execute the entire creative process of concepting, presenting, and building campaigns that meet their demands.

Internships
Work with our Career Services Center to prepare and guide you to finding an internship focused on your area of interest – we are here to help!  With networks around the region and the country, we help you gain exposure to professional best practices and practical application of your technical skills.
