Photography is everywhere and is in a period of unprecedented change, with constantly evolving technological advancements and multimedia possibilities that are redefining what it means to be a professional photographer. Our Photography and Imaging students immerse themselves in a curriculum that enables them to explore the unlimited creative possibilities that exist today for capturing, producing, and sharing innovative and meaningful work.
We build on the photographic tradition and thoroughly investigate the future possibilities of both the still and moving image while encouraging our students to develop an individual voice and perspective with their work that will set them apart from the casual observers of life. Our graduates are fully prepared to be young professionals, ready to participate in and help define this exciting new era of photography.

World-Class Visiting Artists
Every year we invite some of the best artists and industry professionals to Ringling College to interact with our students. This includes renowned artists Platon, John Paul Caponigro, Emmet Gowin, Julie Blackmon and Canon Explorer of Light Photographers Vincent Laforet, Clint Clemens and Greg Gorman as well as emerging artists Tyler Mitchell, Salina Roman, Steven Irby, Anastasia Samoylova, Brea Souders and Bobby Rodgers among many others.
International Center of Photography
Every year our students compete to spend one year studying at ICP, the world’s leading institution dedicated to the practice and understanding of photography. The selected students have a unique opportunity to participate in the Creative Practices Program there that exposes them to world-renowned faculty, challenging ideas and a diverse group of international students. Currently Ringling College is one of only three undergraduate programs in the country to have this unique affiliation.
Alumni Spotlight
Graduates of the Photography and Imaging program are ready to practice their craft in a wide variety of professional fields from fashion, documentary, advertising, and editorial photography, to exhibiting their work as fine art. Whatever path our students choose, we give them both the technical and conceptual tools to help them succeed and produce meaningful work in an ever-changing visual environment.

Ethan Berger
Ethan Berger graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design’s Photography and Imaging program in 2015. Later that year Ethan became the Production Assistant for The Collective Shift agency, where he worked with clients such as Inez & Vinoodh, Vogue, Anthony Vaccarello, V Magazine (with Lady Gaga), and others. Berger began his journey with Champs Sports in 2016, serving the roles of in-house Photographer and Content Coordinator. He produces content for Champs Sports stores in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico; Champ’s Women’s; social media and advertising; and in-store displays. Selected brands include Nike, Adidas, Fila, Jordan, Champion, Puma, and New Balance. In 2020 he accepted the position of Creative Manager for Champs Sports, Eastbay, and Foot Act (Foot Locker). He was featured on Ringling College of Art and Design’s Alumni Wall of Honor in 2020.

Jenna Peffley
Jenna (Ohnemus) Peffley graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design’s Photography and Imaging program in 2008. Jenna is a lifestyle, travel, and interior photographer in Los Angeles, California. Her creative background includes working as an interior design assistant and a photo assistant/digital tech in her early career days followed by an in house agent/editorial director, retoucher, art director, prop stylist, creative producer and then photo director over branded content and editorial for Clique Media Group, all prior to becoming a full time photographer. Some of her current and past clients include Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Target, Marie Clare UK, Netflix, J Crew, California Home and Design, InStyle, Pottery Barn, Dwell, Sephora, People Magazine, Bloomingdales, Old Navy, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Jimmy Choo, Nordstrom, Frye, Essie, and a variety of celebrities, fashion designers, jewelry designers, and interior designers.

Hadar Pitchon
Hadar Pitchon graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design’s Photography and Imaging program in 2009. Hadar is a fashion, editorial, and portrait photographer who lives and works in NYC. Some of his current and past clients include Vogue Japan, L’ Officiel Homme Brazil, V magazine, V Man, Nylon Magazine, Sid Magazine and Behind the Blinds.

Athena Torri
Athena Torri graduated from Ringling College of Art and Design’s Photography and Imaging program in 2011. Athena is an Ecuadoran Italian Artist. Her solo show, titled “Land of Opportunities”, was exhibited at Deli Gallery in New York. Conveyor Editions in New Jersey published her first monograph, The Outsider. Her group shows include exhibitions at the International Center of Photography Triennial in New York, Material Art Fair in Mexico City, Re: Art Show 21 in Brooklyn, NY, Serpentine Galleries in London, and Stitching Electron in the Netherlands. She is represented by DELI Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.

Richard and Barbara Basch Visual Arts Center
The brand new Richard & Barbara Basch Visual Arts Center sits at the center of campus, reminding everyone that irrespective of major, our students are artists first and foremost. Created with both our students and community in mind, the Visual Arts Center was designed and built to accommodate hands-on fabrication and art-making with its facilities for glass, woodworking, printmaking, photography, sculpture, and digital fabrication. While the exterior is visually stunning, the interior is designed for robust use— maximizing space, equipment, and collaboration.
Studios North
Studios North is a 10,000-square-foot facility exclusive for Fine Arts students’ use. It is located on the burgeoning, north expansion of campus. Seniors and Juniors have dedicated studio space, which allows them the security to work and create while having the support of a communal environment. The facility also houses painting studios, classrooms and soon another campus gallery for exhibitions and special projects.
Sarasota Art Museum
Sarasota and the surrounding community is a haven for arts enthusiasts with a rich culture that strongly supports the arts. We are in close proximity to many major, internationally renowned museums and cultural institutions such as: The Ringling Museum, Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Salvador Dalí Museum, Tampa Museum of Art, and the Sarasota Art Museum. Additionally, each semester the Fine Arts department spends time in Miami attending the prestigious Art Basel: Miami Art Fair as well as museums, private collections and cultural institutions. These annual events offer students the opportunity to see thousands of art works from all over the world just outside your door.
