Jahkori Dopwell Hall ’22, Illustration, currently an artist-in-residence at Sarasota’s Art Ovation Hotel, will host open studio hours beginning this Tuesday, Jan. 30, through Sunday, Feb. 4, at the hotel’s Artist’s Studio. A champagne open house will be held Friday, Feb. 2, from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Prior to attending Ringling College of Art and Design, Dopwell Hall graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City. He’s currently pursuing his Master of Arts in education from the University of Florida. His creative inspiration draws from his identity and experiences as an African American man, as well as his heritage from his mother’s roots in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and his father’s roots in Jamaica. He works in a variety of media, including traditional gouache. 

Dopwell Hall owns and operates Jahko Designs LLC. In addition to his art, business, and academic pursuits, he currently serves as a substitute teacher and private art tutor. 

Art Ovation Hotel has participated in ongoing partnerships with Ringling College since the downtown Sarasota hotel’s opening in 2018, when it presented Legacy, an exhibit of artwork by Ringling College faculty and alumni. The hotel’s mission is to serve the Sarasota community as an active facilitator, host, patron, and partner for the arts. In addition to its Artist’s Studio and residency program, the hotel hosts revolving art exhibitions, performing arts events, and other creative experiences.
