Ringling College of Art and Design’s new, and long awaited eatery, Cunniffe Commons is officially open. Students enjoyed their first inaugural breakfast today, foraging through its myriad options. With construction beginning in 2021, students have been watching the building slowly come to life for over a year.
The sustainably built two-story building features ample seating, a wide-range of cuisine options, a teaching kitchen, meeting spaces, and a stage for live music. Between two floors the new building measures 28,000 square feet, with additional outdoor patio seating. With its massive ceilings and glass walls, it is a bright and cheery breath of fresh air in contrast to Ringling College’s much beloved late Hammond Commons.
The sprawling food stations offer a range of options, including an Italian counter with pizza and pasta, made-to-order sandwiches and deli, a vegetarian section, comfort food, a grilled option, and a convenient market for grab-n-go items. The Allergen Station will help students who need to safely avoid gluten and the top nine allergens. A massive bakery offers even more delicious treats than Hammond Commons’ daily offerings, and nearby Jack’s Donuts will be a regular fixture with their delightful and massive donuts.
Students can bask in the sun on the massive patio while enjoying their morning coffee and pastry. With outlets throughout, the space is sure to become a popular spot to get some work done while grabbing a bite to eat. Massive communal tables invite group discussion, while the counter seating offers a quick resting spot for students and faculty on the run between classes. It is a welcome addition for hungry students, faculty, and staff alike.
Hours, menu, and pricing are available on the Dine on Campus website. Watch a recap of the official ribbon cutting ceremony that took place Jan. 17, 2023.
