Ringling College students celebrated their wins at the 2023 local ADDYs ceremony Feb. 25.

On Feb. 25, Ringling College of Art and Design students, faculty, and staff brought home 75 awards at the Golden ADDYs 2023 American Advertising Awards in Sarasota, FL.

The ADDYs — or the American Advertising Awards — is the industry’s largest and most widely recognized competition, with nearly 35,000 submissions yearly. The awards are given at three tiered stages: local, district, and finally national.

Ringling College swept the local competition, as they have done many years prior. This year, Ringling students walked away with:

  • five Special Judge’s awards, including Best in Show
  • eight gold awards
  • 14 silver awards
  • 37 Palm awards

The Ringling College Design Center received:

  • two Judge’s Choice awards
  • the Amy Award for Best in Category
  • two Gold awards
  • three Silver awards
  • four Palm awards

Awards for the Design Center are an extra honor for Ringling College — each project is contributed to by talented Ringling students who are mentored and overseen by an amazing group of professional, staff designers competing in the professional category. Located in the Larry R. Thompson Academic Center, Ringling’s Design Center manages the development and design of a variety of print marketing, recruiting, and fundraising materials, from conceptualization to delivery. The design staff has extensive experience in graphic design and strives to achieve a consistent visual identity for Ringling College.

In the Design Center, students get the chance to work on real projects from start to finish, brainstorming ideas, strategizing, managing budgets, and learning the details of planning and production. The Design Center creates award-winning projects each year, from campaigns, brand identities, posters, as well as the College’s recruitment materials. Director of Ringling Design Center Jennifer Mumford adds, “The Design Center internship class offers students from any major a unique opportunity to work on design projects that will be used by the college, and for not-for-profit clients as well. Students earn class credit and gain the experience of working for a real client, and all the deadlines and expectations that come with it.”

A complete list of Ringling College awards is below.

Ringling College students worked with the Design Center staff to create Career Insight 2023 packaging, branding, and print design. Career Insight is the college’s annual career and internship fair and is held each February.
