Ringling College of Art and Design will host the opening night reception of Through Women’s Eyes, an international film festival addressing gender and racial inequity in the media by screening films that feature voices from all over the world. The festival champions women’s stories, LGBTQIA2S+ stories, international stories, and stories from underrepresented cultures.

In its opening night, the festival will screen a block of six films: Stillness; When Mom is Gone; Viola; Pool; Glenn, the Great Nature Lover; and How to Ride a Train. The block is made up of a mix of festival greatest hits, plus two new films. Since 2020, the festival has kicked off each year with a screening of Shattered, a film by Ringling alum Suyoung Jang. The run time for each film in the block ranges from 5-29 minutes.

The festival first started 25 years ago at Ringling College with a single film. This year, they will show 32 films from 17 countries. The Saturday and Sunday film screenings will take place at Sarasota Art Museum. Tickets and event passes are available on the festival’s website.
