The Ringling College Emergency Response Team (ERT) is currently monitoring the development of Hurricane Erin, which was recently upgraded to hurricane status by the National Hurricane Center.
Currently in the Atlantic, Erin is expected to become a major hurricane over the weekend.
Current tracking models are in agreement that this storm will curve northeast, away from Florida and the east coast of the U.S. Erin is expected to pass near or north of the Leeward Islands on Saturday, before making the turn.
We do not anticipate this storm posing any threat to our campus or the surrounding area.
To keep up with weather updates and news, download a weather app such as AccuWeather, Windy, or MyRadar for updates and visit the National Hurricane Center National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website: www.nhc.noaa.gov
We will continue to monitor the situation and if the storm’s trajectory changes in a way that might impact our campus, we will notify members of our College community. We encourage you to share these updates with concerned families and friends.
