Ringling Students Win Telly Award for Buddy Cruise News

For three years, ART Network students have joined Buddy Cruise (www.buddycruise.org), a week-long conference for families who have a child with Down Syndrome, onboard Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. During the week, our students mentor 100+ children and young adults with Down Syndrome in all aspects of production, resulting in a fully-produced “Buddy Cruise News” show, which premieres at the closing ceremonies at the end of the cruise.

Last fall, ART Network Director, Lisa Moody, and Senior Production Manager, Marquee Doyle, led five Ringling College seniors onboard Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas to produce the 4th episode of Buddy Cruise News. Through the support of the College’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), ART Network received a grant to assist in this immersive, live-changing initiative. Students joined from a variety of majors, and included:

Sydney Anderson – Visual Studies

Bea Lima – Motion Design

Erika Lipari – Visual Studies

Lauren Antoine – Motion Design

Joshua Wood – Creative Writing

Buddy Cruise News 2019 is the recent recipient of a Telly Award (Many Screens | One Award) for excellence in video and television for all screens. See this year’s award-winning episode of Buddy Cruise News here.
