Paint in the Park and So Much More!

Selby Gardens offers new and engaging opportunities for students and the Sarasota community.

There are few places more serene and picturesque than Sarasota’s Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Located right at the edge of Sarasota Bay, the Gardens are situated on the grounds of the former home of Marie and William Selby. Also part of Selby Gardens is their campus in Osprey, FL encompassing the 30-acre Historic Spanish Point. The downtown campus is recognized as “the only botanical garden in the world dedicated to the display and study of epiphytic orchids, bromeliads, gesneriads and ferns, and other tropical plants.” The Gardens were originally founded in 1973 by Marie Selby, “for the enjoyment of the general public.”

Today, both campuses host a number of events, exhibitions, and educational programming. For their upcoming Winter-Spring 2022 Season, they are offering even more classes and experiences in an effort to reach an even wider audience.

With many Ringling College of Art and Design faculty teaching courses at Selby Gardens, Ringling students are encouraged to take advantage of the new opportunities – including plein air studio classes, yoga in the gardens, and so much more!

And the best part? Students can book classes at a discounted rate by using their Ringling College email address. So grab your friends, your sketchbooks, and get out in that fresh air and sunshine!
